Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware

If you're seeing some of these problems with Chrome, you might have unwanted software or malware installed on your computer:

  • Pop-up ads and new tabs that won't go away
  • Your Chrome homepage or search engine keeps changing without your permission
  • Unwanted Chrome extensions or toolbars keep coming back
  • Your browsing is hijacked, and redirects to unfamiliar pages or ads
  • Alerts about a virus or an infected device

Trends in Digital Education in 2017

What is the latest trends in Digital Education this year? In this article, it lists 5 major trends worth watching. Are you using any of these?

Trends in Digital Education 2017

In what directions will develop the market of digital educational solutions in 2017? First and foremost it is worth paying attention to the video content. Also the modern technologies, which until recently had been considered as futuristic, are nowadays used practically.
We have chosen 5 trends for you, which are worth watching in 2017. They find their reflection in products and services that are offered by the providers of educational solutions. So what is the future of education?
  1. First of all: video
This is one of the most important trends that has been present for many years also in teaching. Since the time, when videos recorded on VHS cassettes were shown at schools, the huge progress has taken place. Currently, more and more modern technologies are used in video production: 2D, 3D, as well as 360°, or virtual reality. Virtual reality in itself is an important trend.
The amount of video content is increasing, not only in the field of education. Mark Zuckerberg puts on videos — he assumes that within a few years his service will be the largest intermediary in video distribution. In turn, according to Cisco report, until 2019 videos will have accounted for 80% of internet content.
Scientists from the Yale University proved that videos enhance learning. Children, who had passed a special training program based on video games, got better tests results (http://www.nature.com/articles/srep32859). The results of the experiment confirmed that video games engage three cognitive skills:
– attention
– self-control
– working memory
If using a video during the lesson is to be effective, the resource should be short and constitute a specific knowledge pill. The studies show that students are able to stay focused on video for up to 9-12 minutes. After this time the number of students watching the video actively drops by half comparing to the first 3 minutes (http://blog.edx.org/optimal-video-length-student-engagement). Check, how it is possible to explain the principle of operation of the AC motor or corrosion of metals in a resource that lasts only 2.5 minutes. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtv7hVG09B0&thttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkBoOx5IATc).
Production of video content for education will be developing. Interactive videos will be more and more popular. Videos can be enriched by additional content, which engages students, e.g., questions, questionnaires, additional links (e.g., http://www.eslvideo.com/eslvideo_quiz_beg.php?id=5209 or http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2anauz_gkpool-kids-general-knowledge-quiz-game-for-kids_videogames)

What is SSL Certificate for websites?

What is SSL certificate and why do we need it for websites?

SSL stands for "Secure Sockets Layer", which is the standard security technology for creating an encrypted link between a Web server and a Web browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the server and browser remains private and secure.

SSL Certificates serve two purposes:

  • They assure customers that a website is legitimate and that the online business running the site is a real licensed business.
  • They encrypt data transferred between a customer's Web browser and the online business to help prevent theft of sensitive information such as credit-card numbers, account numbers, and passwords.
The certificates are issued and validation assured by third-party companies called Certificate Authorities (CA). When a properly issued SSL Certificate is present on a website, the visitor's Web browser shows an image of a closed padlock and an "https" in front of the Web address.

There are 3 main types of SSL Certificates. The diagram below explains:

How to Get Windows 10 for Free After July 29th

Windows 10 Free upgrade from Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be coming to an end soon.

Windows 10 Free Upgrade
Windows 10 Free Upgrade ending 29 July 2016
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10’s free upgrade offer will expire on July 29, 2016. After that, you’ll have to pay USD119 to upgrade on any computer that hasn’t already made the leap. But with a few simple steps, you can “reserve” that free copy now, so you can upgrade after July 29 without paying.

We know not everyone wants to upgrade to Windows 10 right now, and that’s fine. But one day, you’ll probably have to. And you don’t want to have to pay $119 for it. By upgrading a computer now and then rolling back to Windows 7 or 8, you’ll get to keep your original version of Windows, but “reserve” that free Windows 10 license for all your PCs.

This article from How-To Geek explains how to "reserve" your free Windows 10 even after July 29, 2016 deadline.
When you upgrade to Windows 10 from a PC running a genuine and activated Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 operating system, your PC receives a “digital entitlement.” Basically, Microsoft notes on its servers that your particular PC’s hardware is eligible for Windows 10 going forward.
Once your PC is eligible, it’s always eligible–you can reinstall Windows 10 from scratch and it’ll automatically activate, without you even entering a product key.
Note that this is tied to your computer’s specific hardware, not your Microsoft account. The free Windows 10 license you receive will only work on that PC–if you upgrade the motherboard or try to install Windows 10 on another PC that doesn’t have the digital entitlement, it won’t work.

TM's Congrats SMS!

Out of curiosity, after getting home from work. I restarted my modem, router and the HyppTV. I quickly run a speed test at www.speedtest.net and to my surprise, the TM Unifi broadband speed is now at almost 10Mbps!

After restarting, the net is working fine again. And it is still at almost 10Mbps!
